I’m a member of the North American Vexillological Association (NAVA) and each week they send out a newsletter to members. Today I received the latest issue and there was a link to CNN’s coverage of the Eastside School logo flap. What surprised me is that those opposed to the logo consider the silver eagle insignia of U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Colonels and U.S. Navy Captains to be a Nazi emblem! What is interesting is that when I saw the eagle and before I read the article, I associated it with the National Farm Workers Association created by Cesar Chavez back in the 1960s. I wonder if these apparent left-wing protestors are aware that a very similar eagle was chosen by one of their ilk for his own movement?
