On Aug. 6, full house sponsor Berkadia and Smyrna-based Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta dedicated a two-story house in Austell to homeowner Brittany Neal and her four children: Ashlyn, 14; Malaya, 12; Asher, 10; and Lockett, 6.
Neal works as the activities/life enrichment director at an assisted living facility in Cobb County. Due to the sky-rocketing cost of rent in the county, she could no longer afford to continue maintaining a decent place to live for her family.
A Cobb native and graduate of Sprayberry High School, Neal wants to raise her family in the county where she was raised. In her application, Neal said that she “would love the opportunity to partner with Habitat, build my home, and to help others.”
Berkadia was joined by volunteers from additional partners Assurant; United Community Bank; Leadership Cobb Alumni Association; Herc Rentals; students from Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School; Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes; and PCT Clean.
Berkadia, a leader in the commercial real estate industry, was a first-time home sponsor last year and was so moved by the experience, that they eagerly sponsored Neal’s home this year. This home is also the second two-story house the affiliate has built.
