Life’s Chase Zemenak was named the NAIA Men’s Wrestler of the Week, becoming the second wrestler in program history to receive the honor.
Zemenak, a junior transfer from Reinhardt who also wrestled at NCAA Division I Chattanooga, beat three ranked opponents in going 4-0 at the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.
His performance helped lead Life to a second-place finish in the tournament, behind only Grand View. The finish was the No. 7 Running Eagles’ highest placing at the NWCA National Duals.
Zemenak started the tournament with a 16-0 technical fall victory over Baker’s Brandon Dofat. He then beat 18th-ranked T.J. Braun of Providence (Mont.) by an 11-1 major decision.
Zemenak’s other two wins came over top-five opponents. He pinned No. 4 Gaige Torres of Indiana Tech and then won a 5-3 decision over No. 3 Eric Clarke from top-ranked Grand View.
