The First Christian Church of Mableton hosted the March 3 Meals On Mission whereby 115 families were provided with dry/canned groceries, milk, Post Cereal and Kenny's Key Lime Pies that were supplied by Sweetwater Mission. Executive Minister Barry Smith encouraged us to admire God's beauty as displayed in nature as Spring arrives.
On March 5, volunteers from the Mableton Improvement Coalition and Lions Club assisted the Legacy At The River Line HOA remove 27 bags of litter from their adopted Discovery Boulevard and from the Veterans Memorial Highway Bridge. We got a late start because we kept wanting to socialize and enjoy the Dunkin Donuts coffee and glazed donuts that were provided by our adopt-a-mile leader, Don Walton. The weather was perfect and we had less trash than normal. It was a great way to start off a Saturday morning. If you are interested in learning more about the Adopt-A-Mile program, please contact Dawn at keepcobbbeautiful@cobbcounty.org.
The Waverly Mobile Home Park was the location of the Sweetwater Mission March 4 Meals On A Mission event. Volunteers were able to provide dry/canned groceries, Post Cereal, Snackwell Cookies and Kenny's Key Lime Pies to 138 hungry families in need. We enjoyed the nice weather and good company while we served our neighbors.
Terri Marsh has done a terrific job for many years in leading her Adopt-A-Mile neighborhood group in keeping Sanders Road in Austell looking good. Her and her friends like to schedule their clean-ups for Thursday evenings each quarter. They sometimes work past their adopt-a-mile boundaries and clean-up nearby roads and a little on the Silver Comet Trail that crosses her adopted mile. On behalf of Keep Cobb Beautiful, we really appreciate her and her friends. Every mile helps.
On March 5, Austell City Council members and Austell Business Association volunteers assisted Keep Cobb Beautiful Board member Jeff Padgett in removing 26 bags of litter and other debris from Jones Road near Perkerson Mill Road in Austell. The weather was perfect and everyone worked together as a team. The City of Austell has great things planned for the future and is serious about keeping litter off the roadways. If you want get involved in future litter clean-ups within the City Of Austell limits, please reach out to Quintasha Swanson at qswanson@austellga.gov.
The South Cobb Lions Club donated 22 safety helmets to the South Cobb Early Learning Center to accompany their new tricycles. Aren't they just adorable? We are grateful that we were invited to be a part of the youngsters having fun and getting some exercise in the outdoors.

Volunteers from the South Cobb Lions Club recently sorted over a thousand eyeglasses, old cell phones and several hearing aids to prepare them for delivery to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse where they will be repaired and distributed to people who cannot afford their own vision needs. The clam shell eyeglass cases will be used to produce small first aid kits.
Lions Clubs have drop spots all over Cobb County. If you have old eyeglasses, sunglasses, hearing aids and cell phones around your home, please check with your local Lions Club over Facebook or at https://www.lionsclubs.org/en to find the drop spots or bring them to an upcoming Lions Club meeting. Recycling these items will bring sight and sound to many people in need.

Volunteers from the First Christian Church Of Mableton and the South Cobb Lions Club have been learning "How To Serve Others Well" over the past month. Our final step in this course is allow yourself to be served so that the server can feel the reward from helping others. We tried to put all five steps to practice providing canned/dry groceries, Post Cereal, Kenny's Key Lime Pie and new offering, Culinary Tours Gelato, to our 110 families who drove through on Feb. 17. We are grateful to these companies for donating the products to Sweetwater Mission. They were instrumental in us being able to help these families.

We appreciate the Smyrna Jonquil Lions Club who braved the frigid weather on Feb. 5 to clean-up their adopted mile of Spring Road. The area looks much better now that they have completed their work. They were very grateful to Julie Barwig, Eloise Holland and Eva Tackett from Keep Smyrna Beautiful for providing them with all of the safety vests, grabbers and bags. There is little wonder why they have been recognized by Keep America Beautiful and Keep Georgia Beautiful for their fantastic accomplishments.
