Aug. 9—EDWARDSVILLE — A Wood River and a Granite City man were each charged with felony domestic battery in separate incidents Aug. 7, each having four or more prior convictions for similar crimes.
Wendell E. McMullen, 53, of Wood River, was charged Aug. 8 with domestic battery (four-plus prior convictions for domestic battery), a Class 2 felony.
The case was presented by the Wood River Police Department.
According to court documents, on Aug. 7 McMullen allegedly struck a household or family member in the head with an object.
He has prior convictions for domestic battery out of Madison County in 1993 and 2010, and Marion County in 2006.
Bail was set at $50,000.
In an unrelated case, Michael E. Bridges, 58, of Granite City, was charged with domestic battery (four-plus prior convictions for domestic battery), a Class 2 felony; and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor.
The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.
According to court documents, on Aug. 7 Bridges allegedly struck a household or family member in the face "multiple times" with his hands and pushed the victim off of a porch.
He has Madison County convictions for domestic battery in 1995, 1996 and 1998.
Bail was set at $40,000.
Other felony charges filed Aug. 8 by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office include:
—Shamsudin K. Muhammad, 54, of Covington, Georgia, was charged with aggravated battery, a Class 2 felony; aggravated assault, a Class 4 felony; resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor and criminal trespass to real property, a Class B misdemeanor. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 6 Muhammad allegedly kicked a Granite City police officer in the stomach, assumed a threatening posture and grabbed the officer by the arm He also allegedly resisted the officer's attempts to place him under arrest and remained inside the Regions Bank in Granite City, after being told to leave. Bail was set at $30,000.
—Floyd L. Ramsey Jr., 45, of Edwardsville, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff's Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 5 Ramsey allegedly struck a man in the face and upper body at Jim's IGA in Livingston and spit in the face of a woman 60 years of age or older. Bail was set at $50,000.
—Clayton L. Vann Jr., 28, of Alton, was charged with possession of a firearm with a revoked Firearm Owner's ID Card, a Class 3 felony, and aggravated unlawful use of weapons, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff's Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 6 Vann allegedly had a loaded and accessible Anderson Manufacturing AM-15, an AR-style pistol with a double drum-style magazine loaded with about 80 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition while having a revoked FOID card, and was carrying the weapon in a motor vehicle without an FOID card or concealed carry license. Bail was set at $75,000.
—Mark R. Perry, 36, of Collinsville, was charged with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 5 Perry allegedly had a Ruger .380 caliber handgun. He has a prior conviction for unlawful possession of a controlled substance out of St. Clair County in 2021. Bail was set at $75,000.
