The South Fulton Police Department has been working to get drugs and guns off the streets.
A recent sting following a complaint of heavy vehicle traffic on Kimberly Road near Cascade Road yielded two arrests following months of surveillance and undercover operations.
Police arrested Jamaal Cooper, 42, as he tried to flush half of a kilogram of cocaine down a toilet, according to Police Chief Keith Meadows. Meadows said Cooper has an extensive narcotic and weapon history and was being investigated by the South Fulton Narcotics and Gang Unit.
Cooper was charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking MDMA, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of THC-infused edibles, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Also arrested was Cooper’s girlfriend—Tabitha Hamiel, 44—who has been charged with possession of marijuana after investigators found the drug in her car.
Police confiscated 322 grams of marijuana, 68 grams of cocaine, 86 grams of MDMA, 189 grams of THC, five guns, three cars and $3,000 in cash. The South Metro SWAT team and Homeland Security assisted with the sting.
