The Chesapeake Bayhawks scored four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, erasing the Atlanta Blaze’s slim lead to win 9-6 on Saturday in Annapolis, Maryland.
Down 5-3 after former Atlanta draft pick Myles Jones scored about halftway through the third quarter, the Blaze (3-5) tied the score at 5-all after goals by Kevin Rice and Deemer Class.
The tie stretched into the fourth quarter before Class scored again on a feed from Kevin Rice to give Atlanta 6-5 lead with 10:21 left to play.
The lead did not last long, however, as Chesapeake’s Stephen Kelly scored unassisted a mere 3 seconds later. Ian MacKay, Steele Stanwick and Josh Byrne added insurance goals for the Bayhawks (6-2), and the Blaze could not score again.
Stanwick had four goals for Chesapeake, while Matt Danowski had a goal and four assists.
Class finished with three goals on the night for Atlanta. Rice, Christian Cuccinello and former Walton High School standout Scott Ratliff also had goals, with Cuccinello contributing a pair of assists.
The Blaze will host the Dallas Lizards on Saturday, for their final home game until July 28.
